A GPS goal isn't a pass/fail grade.
It's a diagnostic tool.
When performance isn't where we expected it to be, the most useful question isn't simply:
"Why aren't the ads working?"
It's:
"Where is the gap between the strategy and the business outcome?"
That gives us somewhere to investigate.
Start With the Media
First, we look at whether the campaign is generating the traffic and actions we expected.
Questions may include:
Are we reaching the right audience?
Is there enough demand?
Is traffic significantly more expensive than projected?
Are certain channels, campaigns, audiences, or keywords underperforming?
Is the available budget sufficient for the opportunity?
Sometimes the issue is within the media strategy.
Sometimes it isn't.
Look at the Creative
A campaign can reach exactly the right audience and still struggle if the message doesn't connect.
We may evaluate:
Which creative concepts are producing response
Whether creative fatigue is occurring
Whether the offer is clear
Whether the ad aligns with the landing page
Whether new creative testing is needed
Look at What Happens After the Click
This is one of the most commonly overlooked pieces of campaign performance.
A user can click an ad and encounter:
A confusing landing page
A form that's too difficult to complete
A CTA that's hard to find on mobile
Slow or unclear navigation
Messaging that doesn't match the ad
That's why GPS doesn't stop at the advertising platform.
Conversion Clarity can use behavioral data to identify things like scroll depth, rage or dead clicks, quick-back behavior, session patterns, and mobile friction.
Look at Lead Quality
More conversions don't automatically mean better performance.
We also want to understand whether the campaign is producing the right actions.
Call and lead intelligence can help identify:
High-intent conversations
Unqualified calls
Repeat callers
Search terms generating meaningful conversations
Geographic waste
Other lead-quality patterns
Look at What Happens After the Lead
Sometimes marketing is producing opportunities, but the gap occurs later.
For example:
Calls are going unanswered
Leads aren't being followed up with quickly
Lead-to-customer close rate is below the original assumption
Customer value differs from the number used to build the goal
That matters.
Marketing performance and business performance aren't separate universes.
Then We Build the Action Plan
GPS is designed to turn findings into action.
That action might belong to:
Conduit: Change targeting, budget allocation, bidding, keywords, or campaign structure.
Your agency: Adjust messaging, creative, or the landing page.
The client: Improve phone coverage, lead follow-up, sales processes, or another business-side issue.
The goal is not to find someone to blame.
The goal is to find the constraint that's keeping the campaign from moving forward and determine what we can do about it.
